There was an instant, in the place where there is no time, in which the most perfect of all creatures, up to that moment, the most intelligent and beautiful of all the angels, Lucifer, shouted: Non serviam and with his tail he dragged a third of the stars to the depths of Hell, and in this way, he forever separated the angels who supported him from God, taking them away from His love and His beatitude, sinking with them into the deepest prisons of Hades. He had tried to appropriate, as he considered it a right, of that parcel of glory that God had granted him. He had not accepted within himself what Saint Paul later taught us: «All that you have, you have received from God».
Faced with this rebellion, an Archangel, the first counterrevolutionary who defended the rights of God, Saint Michael, responded to Non serviam with the cry «Who is like God?!» And since then Lucifer was given a name that defines him: Devil, that is to say «the one who divides», «the one who separates.» The first revolutionary never ceases to establish his government over the world, methodically and systematically applying his tactic: «divide and conquer».
Since his defeat, he has not ceased to conspire against the work of God. Disguised as a serpent, he infiltrates Paradise in order to tempt the woman and make the first man sin, making them fall into temptation, separating them from the love of God, covering all their descendants with ignominy, infecting us all with that ferment that dissolves and disintegrates all Communion, that which is the fomes peccati.
It was at that moment of man’s first sin, when God established the only valid dichotomy, the one between the lineage of the serpent and the lineage of the Woman. From this dichotomy, it is extracted as a consequence that Christ and Baalial will have nothing in common, nor light with darkness. From it we conclude that we cannot serve two masters, because by pleasing one, we will displease the other.
The Most High separated the light from the darkness, and called them night and day; he separated the earth from the waters, and the Spirit that orders everything, put concert and harmony in Creation. Calling to life our first parents, male and female He created them, and they were His friends until they committed the first sin. However, since then the Enemy has endeavored to separate what God has united and to unite what God has separated, with the diabolical perfidy of infernal alchemy: Solve et coagula.
As a consequence of that sin, death entered the world, which caused the soul to separate from the body and thus, with astonished eyes, the first parents saw in the corpse of their son Abel the terrible consequences of their rebellion. And just like him, how many children have been and continue to be made victims of their parents’ wrong decisions?!
In view of the separation of men from God, due to original sin, the Holy Trinity found a sublime way of reuniting man fallen by sin with Himself: it is the Incarnation of the Word, through which the Son of God himself becomes Man in the womb of the Immaculate Virgin. In the Incarnation, the ineffable mystery is realized in which the two natures, the human and the divine, are united in the Divine Person of Our Lord. It is the miracle of the Hypostatic Union. «He who divides», was defeated by Our King and Redeemer on the wood of the Cross, where Our Lord is going to marry the Church and each one of our souls in a mystical union, which will be eternal if God so desires and we accept; if we reject the constant temptations and persecutions «of he who divides», sowing death in bodies and souls. If, as members of the Church Militant, we fight the good fight every day so that «His Kingdom may come». If, by putting at the service of Christ the King, without rest or pettiness, everything that we possess and that we have received from Him, we will one day deserve to be part of the Church Triumphant.
