Next Saturday, March 11, the Carlist family in all the Spanish world celebrates one of our most important feasts: “The Martyrs of Tradition”.
The Feast of Martyrs of Tradition was officially instituted by Charles VII, King of Spain, in 1895 from his exile residence in Venice.
He wrote a letter to his Deputy, the Marquis of Cerralbo, urging him to dedicate a special time of the year to honor those martyrs that have given up their lives for God, Fatherland and King since the beginning of the XIX Century. Martyrs fallen in the battle fields, in exile, inside dungeons, and in the hospitals. He prescribed March 10 (11*) of each year as the day to celebrate this feast in commemoration of his grandfather’s passing anniversary, His Catholic Majesty Charles V, first Carlist king of Spain.
He said: “We must seek help from the souls of those who have preceded us in this centuries-long struggle, and honor their memory in every conceivable way, so that they may serve as encouragement and example to the young and keep alive in them the sacred fire of love for God, the Fatherland, and King”.
This year, H.R.H. Prince Sixtus Henry of Bourbon will not be able to preside the central events for this feast organized in Valencia, as it was previously announced.
All the more reason to pray during this important day for his recovery.
This Carlist Circle Camino Real de Tejas in order to give the proper honor to this feast cancels all activities for the month of March. There will be NO study circle and there would be NO Rosary March for the consecration of the State of Texas to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
We invite all members, families, clergy, and friends from the different Texas regions and circle chapters to attend and participate in the following events organized to honor the feast of Martyrs of Tradition.

El próximo sábado, 11 de marzo, la familia carlista de todo el mundo español celebramos una de nuestras fiestas más importantes: los Mártires de la Tradición.
La fiesta de los Mártires de la Tradición fue instituida oficialmente por S.M.C. Carlos VII, Rey de España, en 1895 desde su residencia en el exilio en Venecia. Escribió una carta a su Jefe Delegado, el Marqués de Cerralbo, instándole a dedicar una época especial del año a honrar a aquellos mártires que han entregado su vida por Dios, la Patria y el Rey desde principios del siglo XIX. Mártires muertos en los campos de batalla, en el exilio, en las mazmorras y en los hospitales.
Señaló el 10 (11*) de marzo de cada año como día para celebrar esta fiesta en conmemoración del aniversario del fallecimiento de su abuelo S.M.C. Carlos V, primer rey carlista de España. Estas fueron sus palabras: «debemos pedir ayuda a las almas de los que nos han precedido en esta lucha de siglos, y honrar su memoria de todas las maneras imaginables, para que sirvan de estímulo y ejemplo a los jóvenes y mantengan vivo en ellos el fuego sagrado del amor a Dios, a la Patria y al Rey».
Este año, S.A.R. Don Sixto Enrique de Borbón no podrá presidir los actos centrales organizados en Valencia, como se había anunciado con anterioridad, lo cual es razón de más para rezar durante ese importante día por su recuperación.
Este Círculo Carlista Camino Real de Tejas con el fin de dar el debido honor a esta celebración cancela todas las actividades para el mes de marzo. NO habrá círculo de estudio y NO habrá Caminata del Rosario por la consagración del Estado de Tejas al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.
Invitamos a todos los miembros, familias, clero y amigos de las diferentes regiones y capítulos de los círculos de Tejas a asistir y participar en los siguientes actos organizados para honrar la fiesta de los Mártires de la Tradición.
