As we can see, the word liberalism always referred to a shared project embraced by all factions of modernity. However, this common foundation has become less explicit because, over the last century, the use of the term has been restricted to refer to specific factions. For instance, in Spain and Argentina, it is associated only with the right, while in the United States, it applies only to the left — even though the right there often calls itself classical liberalism. Therefore, only someone who rejects liberalism in its entirety, this shared project defended equally by the right and progressivism, can truly claim to be «politically incorrect». Unfortunately, many Catholics fiercely insist that every Christian’s duty is to join the ranks of systemic conservatism, expressing outrage if such groups are not voted for.
The Catholic conservative often argues that (to use our initial example) it is preferable for the state not to subsidize «transgender» surgeries rather than for it to do so, implying that the most Christian thing to do is to ensure the success of liberal conservatism. However, this ignores the mechanics of liberalism. There is no anti-Christian option and a less anti-Christian option; both the right and the left are indispensable to the destruction of the moral order.
First, the left operates in a revolutionary manner: it declares that the freedom and equality of «trans» individuals are incompatible with the «cisheteropatriarchy», demanding subsidies for surgeries, fines for misused pronouns, and the deconstruction of the traditional family in universities. Second, the right operates in a conciliatory manner: it claims that the freedom and equality of «trans» individuals are compatible with the survival of traditional families, convincing everyone that revolutionary measures can be avoided while still respecting transgenderism.
Thus, the only reason the right succeeds in halting the revolution is by promising the left that it has already learned to coexist with all lifestyles. Consequently, the intellectual proposal of the right serves only to solidify the notion that «transgenderism» is as acceptable an option as any other. The left advances through conflict, while the right secures its gains without having to crush the «oppressor», thereby refining the left’s work.
In conclusion, the system offers only one option: the same anti-Christian framework, which, while identifying its enemy and declaring open war, also deceptively attempts to convince the enemy that nothing will be lost if coexistence is accepted under its terms. This cycle will only end when Catholics recognize that there is no need to search for a political cause outside of Tradition. There has always been a cause to which they are called to adhere: the Restoration of the Social Kingship of Christ, a cause that Spanish traditionalism has always championed.
