I Historico-Political Conference: The Evolution of Ancient Hispania

It further highlighted how, under the reign of Reccared I, the Visigoths abandoned Arianism and embraced Catholicism

MANILA — On March 28, 2026, the Saturday before Holy Week, beginning at 17:00 (GMT+08:00), the Círculo Carlista Felipe II de Manila hosted a virtual conference on Ancient Spanish history, touching on Roman Hispania and the Visigothic Kingdom.

The conference discussed how Spain evolved from a Roman province into a Visigothic kingdom. It also cited Hispania’s importance as a Roman province, being the birthplace of three emperors who left a profound mark on Ancient Roman history.

Moreover, it also delved into the fall of Rome which paved the way for Visigoths to sack Hispania. It further highlighted how, under the reign of Reccared I, the Visigoths abandoned Arianism and embraced Catholicism, a turning point that fostered religious unity within the kingdom.

The conference is the second part of monthly conferences on Spanish history organized by the Circle in order to help its members cultivate love and appreciation for the history of the Mother Country.
